Tactical Man Tracking Rapid City, SD

Read the ground. Understand the movement. Control the outcome.

Tactical Tracking is a five-day, field-intensive course focused on locating, following, documenting, and interpreting human movement in operational environments. Students learn to identify and exploit sign, determine direction of travel, assess subject behavior, and support containment, search, pursuit, and investigative operations.

Instruction begins with land navigation, pace count, sign recognition, track aging, and tracking formations before progressing to short and long-track exercises, night tracking operations, and team-based field scenarios.

Students will learn how modern tracking operations integrate technology, including tracking applications, GPS documentation, and drone-based observation and evidence collection. The course also examines the role of overwatch and sniper elements, camouflage and concealment considerations, communication between operational components, and the integration of tracking information into command-level decision making.

Practical exercises include tracking boxes, sign-cutting drills, aging pits, immediate-action scenarios, long-track operations, and a final operational exercise that combines field tracking, command integration, planning, and team coordination.

Special emphasis is placed on observation, terrain association, movement analysis, documentation, and the use of tracking as both a tactical and investigative tool.

This is not simply a course about following footprints.

It is a course about finding, understanding, and exploiting human movement.
